Another Life in Metaverse
The Internet continues to grow in Web 1.0, where users can search and browse on centralized companies like Yahoo, Google and AOL, then Web 2.0 is where we can social networking, blogging, and even monetize using free centralized platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, Youtube and TikTok. Soon, we will enter a new era of Web 3.0, which consists of a decentralized platform. Web 3.0 is the foundation of a metaverse that allows us to become part of the Internet by participating in an alternate virtual world.
In particular, after Facebook changed its name “meta”, the word Metaverse gained great popularity. Metaverse is actually not a new word. The term referenced in Neal Stepheson’s 1992 novel “Snow Crash’’ refers to a 3D virtual world inhabited by an avatar of a real person. In this era, the word Metaverse is introduced to the Internet in the form of a 3D virtual world that can be entered rather than simply looking at the screen.
Metaverse is a combination of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). In the Metaverse, you can be part of a virtual world that will be represented as a 3D avatar. Built into an alternate virtual world, users can engage in a variety of daily activities like the real world, such as working, playing, meeting and interacting with people from all over the world. We can even purchase and sell digital items, avatar accessories, and even virtual assets like real estate. In other words, the Metaverse is an interconnected virtual world with endless opportunities, and to experience it, users need Oculus Quest and Haptic gloves for a more immersive experience.
Metaverse and cryptocurrency are two different things, but the combination of the two provides a unique experience of browsing the internet like never before. Transactions on the Metaverse usually take place using cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies and NFTs play an important role in the virtual world of Metaverse, which participates in economic growth. As mentioned earlier, Metaverse is a real world alternative where you can make ‘real’ money by making trades and investing in digital assets. This innovation can provide users with new financial opportunities.
The metaverse does not fully exist yet, but it is constantly growing. There have already been several experimental projects that experience the Metaverse space. Create virtual workspaces called “Horizon Workrooms” in the Metaverse, just like Facebook does. CINDRUM is also a Metaverse platform project that in the near future allows users to experience real-life activities such as networking, shopping, and digital asset creation with people around the world as well as gaming in an immersive virtual world.
